MANUSCRIPT TYPES POLICY

Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat (Jupemas) accepts manuscripts reporting community service activities in health and related disciplines that align with the journal’s focus and scope. Manuscripts must describe activities that have been implemented, involve clearly identified target groups or partner organizations, and present outcomes supported by verifiable evidence.

Accepted Manuscript Type

Jupemas accepts Community Service Articles, which may take the following forms:

a. Community Education and Empowerment Articles

These articles report educational activities, training, mentoring, or capacity-building initiatives involving communities and partner organizations. Manuscripts must describe the needs of the target groups, objectives, implementation methods, partner involvement, and evaluation findings.

Participant numbers and activity documentation must be accompanied by appropriate evidence of achievement, such as changes in knowledge, skills, behavior, or partner capacity.

b. Technology or Innovation Implementation Articles

These articles report the implementation of technologies, products, methods, educational media, or systems intended to address health-related problems experienced by communities or partner organizations. Manuscripts must describe user needs, the implementation process, partner involvement, and an evaluation of functionality, acceptability, or benefits.

Products that have only been designed, without implementation and evaluation involving the intended partners, do not qualify for this category.

c. Community Service Program Evaluation Articles

These articles present systematic evaluations of the implementation processes, outcomes, or sustainability of completed community service programs. Manuscripts must specify the evaluation indicators, data sources, evaluation methods, findings, limitations, and recommendations for improvement.

Claims of success must be consistent with the available evidence and the duration of observation. Immediate improvements in knowledge must not be interpreted as evidence of behavioral change or long-term health impacts.

These three forms are variations within the Community Service Article category and do not require separate submission sections.

Manuscript Structure and Core Requirements

The main manuscript sections comprise Introduction, Implementation Methods, Results and Discussion, and Conclusion. Manuscripts should describe the problems faced by partner communities or organizations, the location and timing of activities, the characteristics of the target groups, implementation stages, outcome indicators, evaluation methods, and relevant plans for sustainability.

The journal does not accept activity proposals, news reports, administrative reports, or documentation of ceremonial activities without analysis and evaluation. Research studies that do not involve the implementation of community service activities fall outside the journal’s accepted manuscript category.

All manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening and, if deemed eligible, proceed to peer review in accordance with the journal’s policies. Technical requirements are specified in the Author Guidelines and the journal’s manuscript template.
