Abstract

Sawdust is wood grain produced from the sawing process. Background: Sawdust contains the main components of cellulose, lignin, hemicellulose and wood extractives. Sawdust is a porous material so water is easily absorbed and fills the pores. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of adsorbent height, flow rate and acidity on the adsorption of tetracycline hydrochloride antibiotic compounds. Method: The method used in this research is the column method that varies the adsorbent height, flow rate, and solution pH to determine its effect on the adsorption ability of sawdust. Results: Tetracycline adsorption is effective When using the adsorbent in a column with a height of 14 cm, the variation of flow rate is 0.1mL/540 minutes, and pH 4. Conclusion: Sawdust has the potential to be used as an adsorbent for tetracycline hydrochloride compounds found in water.
