Pembuatan dan Karakterisasi Kokristal Kurkumin dengan Asam Askorbat sebagai Koformer

Abstract


Curcumin is one of the main compounds of the turmeric plant (Curcuma Long L.). Curcumin has activity as antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial. However, the clinical use of curcumin is still limited due to its low solubility in water. Objective: This study aims to increase the solubility of curcumin by modifying it into a co-crystal form with ascorbic acid coformers. Methods: The co-crystal of curcumin was made in a ratio of 0.6:0.4 using methanol as a solvent. Then the characterization was carried out using FTIR, PXRD, HSM and DSC analysis. Results: The results showed that in the FTIR characterization there was a shift in the co-crystal group, the PXRD characterization showed a new peak indicating the formation of crystallins, the HSM characterization showed a higher co-crystal melting point and in the DSC characterization a decrease in intensity in the diffraction pattern indicated the occurrence of new crystallins.
