Aktivitas Antibakteri Ekstrak Biji Buah Kupa (Syzygium polycephalum Miq.) terhadap Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus dan Candida albican
Abstract
Infections can be caused by fungi, viruses, and bacteria. Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans are normal bacteria in the human body and can cause disease if the human body is not balanced. Kupa is one of Indonesia's endemic plants found on the islands of Java and Kalimantan. Kupa seeds contain secondary metabolites of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, polyphenols, steroids, mono and sesquiterpenes which have antibacterial properties. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity, minimum inhibitory concentration and the best inhibitory effect of Syzygium Policephalum Miq on the growth of microorganisms Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Candida albicans. The extraction method used hexane, ethyl acetate and 70% ethanol as solvents. The method used in the antibacterial test is diffusion in agar wells. The results showed that kupa seed extract had antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Candida albicans. The extract with the greatest inhibition was found in the ethyl acetate extract. The ethyl acetate extract had antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans, with MIC values of 1%, 2% and 24%, respectively.References
