PENGUATAN PENGETAHUAN MENGENAI KELAINAN REFRAKSI PADA SISWA PONDOK PESANTREN

Refractive disorders occur when the image of an object cannot form clearly on the retina due to abnormalities in the eye's optical system. This condition causes blurred vision, is the second leading cause of visual impairment worldwide, and is one of the main factors contributing to preventable blindness. In the educational environment of Islamic boarding
schools, especially for children and teenagers, education about eye health, particularly refractive errors, is still not widely introduced. Strengthening this knowledge aims to measure the level of students' knowledge regarding refractive errors at the Nurul Iman Tasikmalaya Islamic Boarding School. Counseling was conducted to 55 participants. The results of the counseling showed that with prior knowledge, only 3 students (5.5%) had a good level of knowledge, while
16 students (29.1%) had a sufficient level of knowledge, and 36 students (65.5%) were in the category lacking
knowledge. After counseling, there was a significant increase, where 27 students (49%) had a good level of knowledge, 15 students (27%) were in the sufficient category, and 13 students (24%) were still in the poor category. Data analysis showed that there was a significant difference in students' knowledge levels before and after counseling (p=0.01).
