Abstract

Indonesia is a nation with significant solar exposure, and the majority of its population is employed in outdoor occupations. Ultraviolet light is the component of sunlight that adversely affects the skin. Sunscreen is a cosmetic formulation designed to enhance the skin's protective barrier against UV radiation. The skin of Ambon bananas includes antioxidant chemicals that can inhibit and prevent free radicals on the skin. The objective of the research was to assess the efficacy of the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) in loose powder sunscreen formulations by comparing concentrations of Ambon banana peel extract at 0.5%, 10%, and 15%, and to evaluate the outcomes of the Ambon banana peel extract loose powder sunscreen preparation. In vitro assessment of SPF values via a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The assessment of loose powder sunscreen formulations encompasses organoleptic evaluations, fineness assessments, homogeneity analyses, pH measurements, water content determinations, hedonic evaluations, and Sun Protection Factor (SPF) value assessments. Outcomes: The Sun Protection Factor (SPF) value for the optimal loose powder sunscreen formulation was determined to be 3.30 at an extract concentration of 15%, classified as minimal protection.
