Abstract

Indonesia has various types of plants that have the potential as antibacterial activity. One example of a plant that is not widely known by the public that has properties as an antibacterial is from grapefruit peel plants and Centella asiatica. Objective: This study was conducted to find out if the activity of extract of grapefruit peel ethanol and Centella asiatica that has antibacterial activity Staphylococus aureus in hand soap, knowing the effectiveness of handwashing soap formula combination of grapefruit peel extract and Centella asiatica. The purpose of the combination is to have a synergistic effect that produces a good taste force in Staphylococus aureus bacteria. Methods: Grapefruit peel and Centella asiatica are extracted by maceration using ethanol solvent 96%. Testing of antibacterial activity is done by well method with extract and dosage testing. Results: The results of the formula preparation evaluation test include organoleptic, pH, viscosity, cycling test, homogeneity, type weight and antibacterial activity of the preparation is said to be stable and meets the requirements of all formulas except in the FII during viscosity tests. The test results of handwashing soap preparation activity combination of grapefruit peel and Centella asiatica have good activity with the results of formula 1 (7.99mm±0.021), formula 2 (7.85mm±0.049), formula 3 (8.21mm±0.053). Conclusion:The formula that has the best value is in formula 3 by using a combination of active substances grapefruit peel extract 0.1% and Centella asiatica extract 0.1%.
