Abstract

Non-communicable diseases remain a major public health problem due to limited health awareness and low utilization of preventive health services at the community level. This community service program was conducted in Karyamukti Village, Cibatu District, Garut Regency, with the aim of improving community understanding of non-communicable diseases and promoting early detection through free health services. The program employed an integrated approach consisting of health education, health screening, and individual health consultation, involving 94 participants. Health education was delivered through seminars and printed media, while health screening included measurements of blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, and uric acid levels. The results showed that 46 percent of participants were categorized as healthy, whereas 36 percent experienced hypertension, 10 percent had diabetes, 2 percent had high cholesterol levels, and 6 percent had elevated uric acid levels. Analysis of pretest and posttest data demonstrated an increase in participants’ understanding of non-communicable diseases from 50 percent to 81 percent after the educational intervention. The integration of education, screening, and consultation contributed to increased awareness of personal health conditions and encouraged healthier lifestyle practices among participants. This program indicates that community-based health education combined with accessible health screening is effective in supporting early detection and prevention of non-communicable diseases.
