Abstract

Dengue continues to pose a public health challenge, making community-level prevention essential. This community engagement activity was conducted to strengthen the knowledge of participants at Poswindu RW 02 Sicalung about the causes, transmission, signs and symptoms, and prevention of dengue through the Dengue-Free Movement (Recognize, Prevent, Protect). Forty-eight participants attended an educational session delivered through a slide-assisted lecture and an interactive discussion. Knowledge was measured using 10 questions administered immediately before and after the session. The median score rose from 4 (interquartile range 3-5) at baseline to 7 (interquartile range 6-8) after the activity. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test confirmed a significant increase in posttest scores (p < 0.001). These results show that the activity achieved its immediate objective of improving participants' knowledge. Periodic reinforcement, involvement of community health cadres, and household mosquito-breeding-site control are needed to support the continued practice of dengue prevention.
