Abstract

Health is a basic human right that must be fulfilled in order to live a good and productive life. Health problems that occur in the community lead to the emergence of behaviors and efforts. The Indonesian population is accustomed to using various types of medicines as therapy for disease, maintenance, or vitamins in an effort to support daily activities. Self-medication is the most widely practiced effort by the community to overcome illness before seeking help from health workers. Someone who feels sick will make efforts to regain their health. These efforts include going to the doctor or self-medication. This study aims to determine the awareness of fifty-four teenagers at An-Nur Riung Bandung Mosque when doing self-medication. The type of research used is descriptive-quantitative using the survey method. Based on the results of the study, respondents prefer to consult professionals in order to deal with symptoms faster than self-medication. That means the self-medication behavior is still classified as a medium index. Self-medication needs to be done with caution because there are risks behind the practice. The role of pharmaceutical personnel is to help with self-medication behavior so as to avoid irrational treatment.
